Road Biking Route Maps

32 Mile Trek 100

Location: Pewaukee, WI
Driving time: about 17 mins (15 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps Take I-94 W toward Madison. Take exit 293C to merge onto WI-16 W toward Pewaukee. You will see Waukesha County Technical School (WCTC) on your left. Take exit 188. Parking for this route is at WCTC.

Comments: When we're finished with this ride we usually grab some homemade ice cream from The Chocolate Factory. This is located right on Pewaukee Lake. There is also a very good (but pricey) Mexican Cantina nearby. top

100K Trek 100

Location: Pewaukee, WI
Driving time: about 17 mins (15 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps Take I-94 W toward Madison. Take exit 293C to merge onto WI-16 W toward Pewaukee. You will see Waukesha County Technical School (WCTC) on your left. Take exit 188. Parking for this route is at WCTC.

Comments: This route was the 2007 100K route for the Trek 100, a MACC fund raising event. This is a very scenic route. top

Holy Hill Irish Ride (30 miles)

Photos
Location: Monches, WI
Driving time: about 34 mins (27 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps Take I-94 W toward Madison. Take exit 293C to merge onto WI-16 W toward Pewaukee. You will see Waukesha County Technical School (WCTC) on your left. Stay on WI-16 W. Take exit 183 for CR-KC/Merton Ave toward CR-E/North Ave. Follow signs for CR-E (stay straight at intersection of CR-KC). At four-way stop, turn right at CR-E/North Ave. You will now be on CR-E for about 6 miles. Parking is at Monches Park on your left. It is easy to see if you accidentally past it. (If you reach CR-Q, you've gone too far.)

Comments: This is the northern portion of the 100K route. I usually finish this route by taking a left turn onto Cty CW, following Hwy 83 briefly, and then taking the next left onto Hoff Rd. This takes you through a fun, hilly section and then reconnects with County Line Rd. top

Tuesday Night Spinner's Ride (Southern Kettles)

Location: Waukesha, WI
Driving time: about 24 mins (16.2 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps Take I-94 W toward Madison. Exit 94 W at T/Grandview (just after 16 exit). Then south on Grandview. At a stop sign, turn right on Michigan Ave. You'll see the parking lot just to the left.

Comments: The left turn onto Highview Rd is an easy one to miss. It will be coming up fairly soon after a large church on the right. top

Variations on Miller Lite Ride for the Arts

Photos
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Driving time: about 20 mins (10.6 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps (by car)
Google Maps (by bike)
You have the option of biking or driving to the start of this ride. Driving is about 11 miles, while biking is around 8 miles. Depending on the time of day, it could be faster to bike there. If biking, I usually take the Oak Leaf Trail east (bike path that runs past the volleyball and tennis courts of Charles Hart Park). This runs parallel to State St. Continue on the trail until 49th Street. Turn right (south) on 49th Street and then turn left on either Wisconsin or Michigan. Both roads will take you to the lake. Then I take Lincoln Memorial north (past the Art Museum) until I reach the start of the ride. You can also use the Bycycle website to plan a biking route anywhere within the Milwaukee metro area. However, in this case I feel that the above route is better than what the website recommends. The start/finish for this ride is the parking lot next to the Alterra Coffee at the Lake Cafe. When heading home, either reverse the route or take State St west.

Comments: The map comes from the route for the 50 mile Miller Lite Ride for the Arts. (They start at the Summer Fest grounds, though.) We typically do not ride the entire 50 miles but rather turn around at the Wheel & Sprocket. Make sure to stop on in with your empty water bottles because you can fill up for free with whatever endurance/energy drinks they have prepared. Unlike the other route maps listed here, this route (at least up until the Wheel & Sprocket) is flat and very fast. There is, however, one long uphill as Lincoln Memorial/Lake St curves briefly away from the lake. There are sections where you can quite easily keep up with traffic. The secton on Lincoln Memorial has the option of using the bike trail that is on the east side of the road. However, we and the other road biking groups that ride it just stay on the road. Traffic is relatively light and it is safer for everyone. Also, just 2 miles up the road from the Wheel & Sprocket is Doctors Park. This is a fun place to stop for a picture. ;-) top

Scuppernong Southern Kettles Tour

Photos
Location: North Prairie, WI / Eagle, WI
Driving time: about 41 mins (29.5 miles)
Download Route Map
Download Turn-by-turn directions
Directions: Google Maps Take I-94 W toward Madison. Take exit 287 for WI-83 toward Hartland/Wales. Turn left at WI-83 S. Turn right at CR-E. Turn right onto W Sadd St. Continue on Augusta Way and park in the Broadlands Golf Club parking lot. The ride starts north on Augusta Way.

Comments: The entire route is approximately 40 miles. If you have the time, I highly recommend that you finish the entire thing. It is very scenic. However, there are several ways to shorten the ride if desired. top

Jeff R's Awesome Ride - Lannon Loop

Location: Lannon, WI
Driving time: about 25 mins (14.1 miles)
Download Route Map
Download Turn-by-turn directions
Directions: Google Maps

Comments: The west and northern parts of this ride are quite hilly. A very good ride though! Be careful crossing the railroad tracks just past mile 25. top

Pike Lake State Park add-on

Location: just south of Hartford, WI
Driving time: about 35 mins (25 miles) from the school
Download Route Map
Download Turn-by-turn directions
Directions: Follow directions to get to the Lannon Loop ride.

Comments: This is a 15.2 mile add-on to the northern part of the Lannon Loop. I have not ridden this yet, but it looks very scenic from from the map/satellite. top

Trocadero Tuesday Night Ride

Photos
Location: Wauwatosa, WI
Driving time: Quick. At Noodles & Company in the Village of Wauwatosa
Download Route Map
Download Turn-by-turn directions
Directions: Google Maps Ride starts from the walking bridge right next to Noodles & Company. If driving here, park at the free public parking on the opposite side of the river.

Comments: Besides the Miller Lite Ride, this is one of the few road biking routes that you can leave from Wauwatosa and do not have to drive to get to. It is also a great ride. It is fast and mostly flat. (There is a few hills coming back east on North Ave.) Traffic isn't too bad on Burleigh or North and both have good shoulders. Update: Burleigh is closed at 124th street until August 11th d/t road construction. You'll have to take Capitol Dr over to Pilgrim. The Velo Trocadero team leads a ride from this location on Tuesdays. Please visit the links to learn more about this. top

Emma Carlin: Palmyra, WI

John Muir Map
Emma Carlin Map
Directions: To John Muir Trail System. To Emma Carlin Trail System. It is also possible to mountain bike on trails between the two locations.

Comments: Kettle Moraine's DNR website. A state trail pass is required for mountain biking. For more information please see the links. John Muir trail system has five different loops ranging from 1.5 miles to 10 miles. Emma Carlin has three color coded trails ranging from 2 to 4 miles. Parking, water, and vault toilets are available at both locations. There's some hilly, challenging single track here. For up-to-date trail conditions, call (262) 594-6202. top

Alpha Trail & Crystal Ridge Mountain Bike Trail System

Location: Franklin, WI
Driving time: about 20 mins (10.9 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps Trailhead for Alpha Trail: 6740 S. 92 St. Located at the toboggan hill in Whitnall Park's Winter Sports Area (northeast of the golf course). If you are driving to the trail, park at the Whitnall Golf Course lot, 6751 S. 92 St, and ride your bike to the trailhead, northeast of the lot.

Comments: The Alpha Trail begins at the Winter Sports Area of Whitnall Park and heads eastward to the Crystal Ridge area of the Root River Parkway. It has 4.7 miles of Easier and 2.7 miles of More Difficult trails. The eastern part of the trail system is part of the Crystal Ridge Ski area. It is located at 7900 W Crystal Ridge Dr, Franklin, WI. One of our members road Crystal Ridge. She writes: "If you just go around the back you should see the trail heading down the slope into the woods. If you are getting there from the Parkway trail head into the Archery area and look for the trail into the woods to the north. That should drop you right around there somewhere depending on which trail you take. [Crystal Ridge] had a decent climb/downhill with some cool single track winding through the woods." (Thanks for the info, Katie!) top

Hoyt Mountain Bike Trail

Location: Wauwatosa, WI
Driving time: about 4 mins (1.9 miles)
Download Route Map
Directions: Google Maps Trailhead: 1800 Swan Blvd., near the entrance parking lot

Comments: This trail is a 2.5 mile loop. The Hoyt Trail is designed for novice riders; however, there are points to the trail that provide a definite challenge. Winding along the Menomonee River, this scenic trail is primarily single track, marked one way for mountain bikers and the other way for pedestrians. I have not tried this new trail yet so I can't comment on how it rides. top
